Intesar
The only one who could be a star-ter to my life
The only one who stands brave through the trials and strife
The one of grace with her head held high
Ready to conquer demons @ 17, saying good-bye
The one who floats across the dance floor
Like a majestic gypsy all the boys she does allure
But then one year she turned a mother
one child @20, later, another
Two girls to watch and learn how to grow
both so different-but somehow she know-s
How to rear them up (almost entirely on her own)
even through the trying years when teenagers just rather disown
letting them turn into the adults they’ll be
letting them fall, stumble, scrape a knee
with an ever present and watchful eye
out pourings of love be her far or nigh
at times bearing tough love when we need to learn to grow our own wings,
it can feel lonely till I remember the song my mom sings:
“you are my sunshine, my only sunshine
you make me happy when skies are grey
you’ll never know dear, how much I love you,
Please don’t take- my sun-shine away.”
then I can strive to become the one of grace
with my head held up looking to the stars,
knowing where this came from
the beautiful Intesar
(yes, somehow we all survived
so this day, let’s celebrate her life)
Happy Birthday Mom! I love you! =)
